The Infamous Masterson’s , situated in the center of Moonee Ponds , markets itself as a trendy “hipster” hangout , but my most recent experience at this establishment quickly devolved into an unforgettable, terrible experience. While the bar may present a friendly façade, what I discovered behind its threshold was disturbing and far below any standard .
The State of the Venue : Grimy and Neglected
From the moment I walked in , it was clear that sanitation was not a priority at this bar . The surfaces were tacky , and a foul smell of stale beer and dirty bathrooms suffused the entire pub. With a smell of a mixture of ammonia , old age and sickness . The main bar, which should be the main attraction of any pub, was littered with unwashed glassware and trash that looked like it hadn’t been touched in ages . Many patrons have reported seeing bugs darting across the drink station and signs of rats in the storage spaces . For a business that serves drinks , these issues are absolutely intolerable and raise serious concerns about the safety of their products .
